DXcluster Statistics of Dutch DX

Statistics from the DXcluster is a controversial theme

Today's some Dutch DXcluster users are sometimes out of control. Why is this? Mostly, because they are not well educated enough nor have been properly instructed on the their DX postings on a cluster.

To review the operating practice of some spotters in the Netherlands, I analyzed the DXcluster database after importing this into Excel and Access. After running some DbQuery's, interesting results appear:

Diagram shows the number of DXspots of Dutch stations who have been spotted by DX within the period July 2009 and January 2010.

Within the Netherlands we have DXCC PA as prefix PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, PG ,PH, PI. To analyze the spots these prefix had to be extracted from the database of 10.246 record.

By 1st. March 2006 the callsign prefix PD is a National novice licence equivalent to CEPT Novice Licence: N

Diagram shows the number of DXspots of Dutch stations who have been spotted by their own callsign (self spotting = ZELFSPOT) within the period July 2009 and January 2010. sorted by prefix.

The prefix PD (National Novice Llicence) has a rate of 153 zelfspots.

All prefix have one thing in common - they haven't figured out the purpose of the DX Cluster. They can't comprehend the fact that it's a system intended to be used to notify other hams who are connected to it that 'DX' stations are on the air.

Thus, these hams make improper spots, they are causing 313 self spots.

Those radioamateurs haven't figured it out.

Maybe they would be better off spending more time developing operating skills and less trying to ''leming'' on the DXcluster.

Now I am sure a bunch of you are mad at me, but what I hope is that word gets around that if you really want to spot yourself it is getting hard hide your tracks.
